On a cold night for football, the Lebanon Yellowjackets advanced to the Missouri Class 4 District 5 championship game, defeating the Branson Pirates, 50-22 on Friday night at ‘Jacket Stadium.

“Overall, coming off of a bye, I thought tonight we needed,” Christian said. “As the game went on we played better and better football.”

The big play came in the second quarter when Lebanon running back John Berry broke the all-time single-season rushing record on a two-yard touchdown with eight minutes remaining. Right before halftime, Berry also became the ‘Jackets’ all-time leading rusher, passing Brock West to move into first place.

Berry finished the game with 162 yards on 25 carries.

“Congratulations to John as it was very well deserved,” Christian said. “He joins a very elite group. We have had tremendous backs in Lebanon football history, and he sits on top of that mountain now.
