Norma “Jo’’ Josephine Wright Hester Millard

Norma “Jo’’ Josephine Wright Hester Millard, 96, of Conway, died Monday morning, Oct. 2, 2017, at Northridge Place Assisted Living in Lebanon.

She was born Feb. 28, 1921, near Delto, Mo. to Alonzo and Ora O. Hough Wright.

On Aug. 10, 1939, she married Eric Ira Hester, who preceded her in death on May 5, 1982. On Nov. 2, 1984, she married Luther L. Millard, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 2011. She also was preceded in death by her parents, and a granddaughter, Jenay Hester.

She was raised in the Delto and Phillipsburg area and graduated from Phillipsburg High School in the Class of 1939. She and Eric were married in 1939, and Jo was a Military Girl at the Harvey House in Kansas during part of World War II. After 1959, she and Eric moved to California and Jo worked at an ammunitions plant for awhile. She then worked for Philco-Ford Aerospace Corporation for several years. She also was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Later, the family moved to Missouri, and Jo worked for the Durham Company until retiring. After she and Luther were married, they made their home in the Phillipsburg community.

Jo made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of Phillipsburg Christian Church for 60 years.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary J. Officer and her husband, James, of Conway; one son, Norman Eric Hester and his wife, Sylvia, of Mission Viejo, Calif; four grandchildren, Douglas Officer, Ericka Jo Officer, Yvette Trygland and Trinity Hester; three great-grandchildren,   James Douglas Officer, Aaron and Missy Trygsland; a brother, Harold Fisher, of Rock Island, Ill.; a sister, Bonnie Massey, of Springfield, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Norma “Jo’’ Josephine Wright Hester Millard will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017, in Holman-Howe Funeral Home with Bill Vernon officiating. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home.
