John Conoboy, 85, of Lebanon, died Monday evening, Jan. 8, 2018, in Mercy Hospital in Joplin.
He was born Nov. 24, 1932, in Stone Lake, Wis. to Patrick and Sarah Connelly Conoboy.
On June 25, 1961, he married Dolores Rae Farrington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dolores in 2002; three brothers, Jimmy, Patrick, and Martin, and two sisters, Dolly and Marie.
John was born and raised in Stone Lake, Wis. and graduated from eighth grade at Stone Lake School. He entered the military in 1952 and served in the U.S. Army for 20 years, retiring as a Staff Sergeant on Sept. 1, 1972. While in the Army, he earned his GED and received various medals and awards for taking part in the Korean War. Once he retired, he and Dolores made their home near Lebanon, and John worked for Lowe Boats for 20 years, retiring in 1995.
He was raised in the Catholic faith.
Survivors include a daughter, Lynnetta Payton and her hsuband, Orville “Gus’’ Payton III, of Buffalo; a brother, Steve Conoboy, of Chicago, Ill.; special nieces and nephews, Sheila and Tony Madjecki, Karen and Don Smith, and a special caregiver, Brenda Staggs, of Lebanon.
Graveside services and burial for John Conoboy will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2018, in White Oak Pond Cemetery with Full Military Honors, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Memorial donations to Home For Life Cat Sanctuary in Buffalo may be made through the funeral home.
