Isabelle Martha Atterberry, 89, of Plato, died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2017, at Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.
She was born Aug. 5, 1928, in Winnipeg, Mo. to Silas and Willie Ann (Murrell) Anderson, who preceded her in death. She also was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years Oren W. Atterberry; two brothers, William “Bill’’ Anderson and Gene Anderson, and two sisters, Alleta Scher and Lillian Ralston.
Isabelle was a seamstress and enjoyed making clothes and beautiful quilts for her family and friends. She had worked at the Tailor Shop in Fort Leonard Wood and later at the H.D. Lee plant in Houston, where she eventually retired.
She accepted the Lord as her Savior early in life and was a faithful member of the Roby Assembly of God Church.
Survivors include two stepdaughters, Donna McElfresh and husband, Harold, of Bowling Green, Ky. and Judy Reid and husband, Ronnie, of Lebanon; one daughter, Peggy Mainer and husband, Tom, of Plato; four sons, Gene and wife, Cheryl, of St. Clair; Lee and wife, Diana, of Plato; Ronnie and wife, Lynn, of Plato and Donald of Bucyrus; one brother, James “Ed’’ Anderson and wife, Thelma, of Lebanon; three sisters, Juanita Collier, of Springfield; Peggy Bowling and Judy Rubles, both of Lebanon; 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Isabelle Martha Atterberry will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017, at Roby Assembly of God Church with Pastor Bob Troutt officiating. Burial will be in Long Hollow Cemetery, under the direction of Evans Funeral Home of Houston.
