Emma Jean Adkins, 89, of Lebanon, died Friday morning, Jan. 12, 2018, at Lebanon North Nursing & Rehabilitation.
She was born Oct. 28, 1928, in Lebanon, Mo. to Lloyd and Beatrice Sharp Bennett.
On Aug. 19, 1950, she married Gilbert G. Adkins Sr.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gib; three sisters, Florene Johnson, Rosalie McCrory and Betty Cook; two brothers, Estell Bennett, Verden Bennett, and one grandson, Jared Hilton.
Emma Jean was born and raised in the Lebanon area. Her family lineage dates back to the 1700’s to the Sons of the American Revolution. She attended Lebanon High School and then went to work in real estate. She handled commercial real estate and apartments. She also worked at a car dealership in the Lebanon area.
She professed her faith at a young age, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Lebanon. She had a profound faith in Christ and was very active in different groups with the church.
Survivors include two sons, Gib Adkins and his wife, Angie, of Lebanon, and Tim Adkins, of Lebanon; six grandchildren, Myranda, Brittanie, Emily, Andrew, Nicholas and Alexander; seven great-grandchildren, Quentin, Lyla, Charlotte, Wyatt, Betty, Sloane, and Skyler; four sisters-in-law, Helen Adkins, of Lebanon; Mary Van Stavern, of Lebanon; Katherine Jenkins, of Lebanon, and Nadine Newman, of Camdenton; several nieces and nephews, and a special nephew, Mike Cook.
Funeral services for Emma Jean Adkins will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018, at First Baptist Church in Lebanon with the Rev. Matt Taylor officiating.
Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park, under the care and direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon.
Visitation will be from 5:30-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
