A driverless pickup truck struck a van at the intersection of North Missouri 5 and Harris Lane after the driver fell out of the truck.

Three people, including the truck driver and two people inside the van, were injured during the wreck, which occurred just before 11 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Lebanon Police Department.

At about 10:51 a.m. Wednesday, the 85-year-old man, who was driving a 1996 Dodge pickup, failed to yield to the stoplight at Harris Lane and North Missouri 5. The driver, who was not wearing his seat belt, hit his driver’s door, causing it to open. The driver fell out of his truck and landed on the roadway. The man received minor injuries in the wreck, according to a statement from the LPD.

The truck proceeded on and struck a 2006 Dodge van in the passenger door before coming to rest in the utility box for the stoplights near the intersection of Route YY and Missouri 5.
