Plans to replace the Interstate 44 outer road bridge over the Gasconade River near Hazelgreen were the topic for a public meeting Monday night.
Missouri Department of Transportation officials were at the Laclede Electric Cooperative meeting room to answer questions from the public about the project, which is now scheduled for the summer of 2018.  The existing bridge was built in 1927 and because of its condition had to be closed to traffic. The total cost of the construction is estimated to be about $5 million.
The project will affect the Conservation Department’s Hazelgreen Access area. According to information from MoDOT, the work will require the closure of about 80 percent of the parking lot and the temporary closure of the boat ramp at tiles to allow for the movement of equipment and materials.
