The organized ones called in their orders.

The rest waited in line inside in the air conditioning or after ordering courteously stood outside making room for newcomers.

Both groups waited patiently because it was the 50th anniversary of Swiss Inn Drive-In, and they knew good food and the Struttons awaited them.

Lonnie and Judy Strutton had a full crew of family and friends on hand to get the orders out, but they don’t often see lines like they did Saturday.

“We didn’t expect anything like this. We have been swamped from the time we opened. We had to close at 2:30 p.m. and take everybody’s order that was in here. It’s probably going to be 5:00 p.m. before we finish. It was unbelievable. I am glad they came out,” Lonnie said.

Asked if he were worn out at 3:00 p.m., Lonnie said, “Just about.”
