Area youth can skate for free once a month, thanks to a program offered by Lebanon’s Community of Christ Church.

Marcia Morrison, the wife of church Pastor Rick Morrison, explained how it came about.

“This all started last fall when we sponsored a free skate for school students or younger, all the way up to 12th grade,” Morrison said. “We were able to buy their admission and I think we sponsored close to 25 kids.

Then they decided to resume the effort this summer.

“We felt as a congregation that this was a worthy cause, to get kids involved, so we have voted as a congregation to support youth skating, 12th grade on down, the fourth Sunday of every month beginning in June.”

All youth are invited to attend. Adults are also welcome to come and skate at the Skate Corral on Missouri 5, but they will have to pay the entry fee.

“We’re just hoping that as that program, as word gets out, will continue to grow and build, because that would be a good thing to support the youth of our community,” she said.
