‘I love my job. I live my dream every day.’ K9 Officer Van Sickle and his German shepherd partner love their jobs

He has steely brown eyes. Bad guys fear him, and perps can tell by his expression he means business.

As a relatively new but well-trained member of the Lebanon Police Force, he strikes fear in their hearts and minds. Yes, he occasionally pants and drools, but he is a German Shepherd. They do that.

His name is Zidane, and he has his own private chauffeur and partner, Officer Rodney Van Sickle.

Van Sickle is a familiar face to many around town. His stint as the School Resource Officer at LHS, his role as instructor at the Senior Police Academy and Junior Police Academy each year, his working events at the Civic Center and downtown and more have all put him in the public eye on a regular basis.

And Zidane was with him in all those places on the job and afterward at Van Sickle’s home as well.
